Beginner I: Technique for the beginner student who has had some previous flamenco experience. Only 1 class scheduled for this group, but if there is interest further classes can be arranged.
Beginner II / Intermediate: Technique! Feet, arms, turns, posture, movement, etc
Intermediate / Advanced: Siguiryas. Theory, technique, choreography - with (and without) manton.
Castanettes: 1/2 hr class for anyone wishing to try or refresh their castanettes. For those wishing to try, but without their own castanettes, I will be bringing a few extra pairs with me for use.
Introduction to Bata: 1/2 hr class for those of Intermediate level or above who are new to bata de cola (or those with previous experience interested in reviewing the basics). Note: although it is preferable to have a bata, it is not a requirement for the class. If you do not have a bata, try bringing a regular pair of sports ankle weights to the class (as they are useful to increase strength and simulate the weight of the bata).
Bata de Cola: Geared for the Intermediate / Advanced dancer, who has had experience with bata de cola. We will be reviewing all bata technique, as well a exploring portions of choreography based in siguiriyas (with and without manton)

Classical and Flamenco guitar virtuoso Grisha Goryachev performs in "España" as part of the Edmonton Chamber Music Society's Summer Solstice Festival.
Soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian and guitarist Grisha Goryachev lead a journey of discovery into the musical soul of Spain through haunting songs by Manuel de Falla and Fernando Obradors to flamenco infused works by Albéniz, Enrique Arbós, and Manolo Sanlúcar. Joaquin Turina’s Piano Quartet, an intense and lyrical evocation of the composer’s Andalusian roots, brings the journey to a dramatic conclusion.
Tickets at the Edmonton Chamber Music Society website: edmontonchambermusic.org
Goryachev will also be performing in Calgary on June 27th. Click here for more information.
