Join us! The Flamenco Society of Edmonton is hosting its first social event and AGM.

Do you have flamenco shoes, clothes, accessories, CD's and want to swap, sell, or buy them? Looking for new items for your collection? Want to update your flamenco wardrobe? Want to catch up with the local flamenco community? This is the event for you.
6:30 PM - Society First Annual General Meeting
Society membership ($5) is open to anybody involved and/or interested in the Art of Flamenco: performers, students, presenters, teachers, aficionados. Previous knowledge or experience with flamenco is not required.
Our mission is to promote and facilitate local Flamenco activities, to build and increase awareness of Flamenco art in Edmonton and Alberta and to be an umbrella organization for local Flamenco artists, schools, presenters, aficionados and community at large.
At the first Society General Meeting a Board will be voted in from members. Want to be involved in organizing social events, performances, workshops and more? We hope you’ll consider a position on the Board.
You can acquire a Flamenco Society Membership in advance from Irena Dumicz or Jane Ogilvie, or at the event during our Flamenco SWAP-SELL, just before the AGM.

Flamenco society and future festival
Are you interested in being part of a flamenco society in Edmonton? Would you like to be involved in the creation of an Edmonton flamenco festival?
A group of Flamenco enthusiasts are meeting to discuss the creation of an Edmonton flamenco society and potential festival.
For this initial meeting we are seeking input and commitment from those interested in being directly involved in production, logistics, finance, vision etc. Anyone interested in being involved in other capacities will have opportunities to do so in the future as this project develops.
If interested please contact Cat Moores at info.cmoores@gmail.com before Monday April 22nd. We will be meeting Wednesday April 23rd at 7pm.

The next meeting of the Edmonton Cante Club will take place on Saturday May 1st from 9:30 - 11:00 in the University area. The cost is $3.

Flamenco Singing/Appreciation Club restarting - April 17th, 2010
The next meeting of the Edmonton Cante Club will take place on Saturday April 17th from 1:00 - 2:30 in the University area. The cost is $3. Esperanza and I are facilitating this first meeting. We plan to discuss group intentions, focus and timeline for this new cycle of meetings, and also sing!
The exact location and any further needed details will be provided by email closer to the date.
The consensus so far is meetings every 3 weeks on Saturdays. The time of day and location may change for future meetings; we will discuss this at the April 17th meeting.
Anyone with a love for Flamenco singing is welcome to come to join us regardless of knowledge, experience, or singing level. If you are interested in joining us, and haven't already done so, please email Jane at:

Flamenco Singing/Appreciation Club Planning Meeting - Jan. 24, 2009
All those interested in joining a Flamenco singing club are invited to come to a meeting to discuss the formation of a Flamenco singing/appreciation club based in Edmonton.
At the meeting, we'll talk about Flamenco singing interests, formats for gatherings, and schedules.
Anyone with a love for Flamenco singing is welcome to come to the meeting - regardless of knowledge, experience, or singing level. Even if you're not sure if you'd like to join at this time or not, you're welcome to come along to the meeting and listen in or join the discussions.
To our singing friends in Calgary - the invitation is also warmly extended to you. If you can't come in person but would like to be involved in the club in some way from a distance, let us know of your interest and send any ideas you might have.

For those who are on Facebook, there are currently two groups for Edmonton, AB area people: a general group called "Edmonton Flamencos", and a cante appreciation/learning group called "Aficionadas/dos del Cante".
